FIELD STUDIES take a more nature-centric approach to drawing landscapes, relinquishing the rendering of observed landforms and horizon lines and allowing for the land itself to participate in image making.  Working with the process of monoprinting, different parts of my family property were sprayed with Indian Ink and then pressed with rolls of rice paper to capture the patterns and forms of the topography beneath my feet.  Isolating areas of the prints through the use of an embroidery hoop, abstract shapes and lines were used as starting points for the more pictorial representation of the environments embedded in my memory.
