RURAL TRANSITIONS combined photography, painting, fabric, digital imagery and storytelling, and arose out a helicopter flight from St. Thomas to Base Borden. As I flew above my beloved city of London, which quickly evolved into rural landscapes, it became very apparent how farming communities are still the "fabric" of our society. In this renewed realization, I couldn't help but think about the suburban sprawl that was gradually extending the city limits of London and wonder how this would affect the long range well-being of our society as a whole. For the next year I began to examine the implications of these changing and disappearing landscapes more carefully.
