SWEEPINGS are an ongoing series of photographs of drawings that arrive out of chance happenings while cleaning up my studio spaces. A long time tradition in modern art, these are inspired by Jane Bennet's book on Vibrant Matter and serve as an everyday extension of / Mierle Laderman Ukeles's, Manifesto for Maintenance Art 1969! , in which I often take care to look down and observe how things, now considered waste, arrange themselves amidst other detritus.  Shapes, layers, lines, shadows, remnants of illustrations and negative space all become integral when deciding to drop the broom and pick up the camera.
